Just a study of a personal character design, something a little different from my standard, more "believable" creature concepts. Pencil in sketchbook, color tinted in Photoshop.

Top is the original ink drawing/sketch. I tried to loosen up a bit, as I feel I often go overboard on detail, or at least I have a tendency to put my main focus on it. So I used this as an exercise in simplicity. I then decided I would play around in Photoshop to see if I could come up with something that would make it feel like a finished "image." The wallpaper image can be found on CG Textures, which is an amazing resource. I think I might do more of these when time allows: I currently have a project in the works that doesn't leave time for much else.

I was commissioned by Orion Publishing Group to do the cover art for the UK edition of Kristen Britain's "Green Rider" series. They were released this spring, and the latest addition, "Blackveil," only came out last month. I really enjoyed working on this project, as I was given a decent amount of free reign as long as I met with the style they wanted.
"First Rider's Call"
"High King's Tomb"
Some fairly recent work I intend on continuing with, as there are still bits and pieces I'm not completely satisfied with. With luck, I can get it polished for Spectrum. Here's to hoping!
